Have you got a laundry problem that you thought you were never going to be able to solve? You’re wrong! Thanks to Purista Poppy you don’t need to look any further, her years of experience as a housewife looking after a husband and six kids mean there is no laundry problem that she hasn’t come across and then found a solution for!
I love the colour of my new blue jeans and don’t want them to fade, is there anything you can suggest?
You can prevent jeans from fading by turning them inside out and washing in the coolest water possible and drying on the lowest heat. This should keep the nice blue colour you bought them for!
I am forever getting lipstick on my clothing, do you know how to get rid of such stains?
The most effective method I’ve found for removing lipstick stains is to rub the area with petroleum jelly and then launder as normal.
I have nightmares about ironing, is there anything I can do to make it easier for myself?
Ironing does not have to be a chore, remembering simple things can take away the hassle! I know this sounds strange but storing linen items in a plastic bag in the fridge or freezer for 6 – 24 hours before ironing will make them a lot easier to iron and prevent mildew. In addition, ironing linen whilst it is still damp and using a well padded board will also make the job less of a chore. It is also worth investing in an easy iron fabric softener.
Is there anything I can do about soiled shirt collars?
I found out about this little trick by accident but it does work! Take a small paintbrush and brush hair shampoo into the soiled shirt collars before laundering.
